Kilifi Governor Calls On Clergy To Be Agents of Peace

Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi urged the church to continue to play its role in nurturing an upright society by offering spiritual and socio-economic guidance.  – By Ramadhan Kambi.

The governor who spoke after witnessing the consecration of a modern building, Christ the King Church in Jila, Ganze Sub County, said he will continue to work closely with the religious leaders to ensure they spearhead spiritual growth and have a more cohesive society full of love, compassion and humanity. 

“Church is an important aspect of our society. As religious leaders, you too have an important role to play in ensuring that this country remains peaceful, together and tight bond of humanity,” he said. 

“We shall continue to work together with religious leaders to make sure that we have a more bonded society that works together, moves together and share the common ideologies of living together as brothers and sisters for the betterment of this region and the country in large,” he added. 

The modern and state of the art chuch in Jila, is the brainchild of General (Rtd) Samson Mwathethe who built the church for the community to worship.

The Consecration service conducted by Rt Rev Dr Lawrence Dena, the first ACK Bishop of the dioceses of Malindi.  Those who accompanied the Governor included his Deputy Eng. Gideon Saburi, area MP Teddy Mwambire, his Kilifi North Counterpart Owen Baya, County Secretary Arnold Mkare, Chief officer in charge of Roads Kenneth Kazungu,and ASAL CAS Gideon Mungaro. 

The construction of the Modern Church building was initiated by Rtd Chief of the Defence Forces General Samson Mwathethe.
