Deputy President, Kithure Kindiki, has issued a stern warning to opposition leaders, asking them to prepare for a political showdown in 2027, while defending the Kenya Kwanza administration’s development agenda.
Speaking during a meeting with Nyandarua County opinion leaders and legislators at his Karen residence, Kindiki dismissed opposition efforts to stir public dissent, asserting that the government remains focused on fulfilling its pre-election promises.
“Our focus remains on service, not political noise,” he said, promising that Kenya Kwanza’s track record would speak for itself at the ballot box.
Kindiki highlighted notable progress since the administration took office, including economic stabilisation and the strengthening of the Kenyan shilling. He cited successful grassroots initiatives such as a Ksh.1.6 billion electricity project, road infrastructure upgrades, and the fast-tracking of title deeds for residents of colonial-era villages. The Deputy President pledged to personally oversee implementation in Nyandarua.
He also pointed to sectoral gains, including subsidised fertiliser programmes that have increased farm profitability and improved prices for tea and coffee farmers. Additionally, he mentioned the ongoing construction of 400 modern markets nationwide, a Kenya Kwanza flagship project aimed at boosting local economies.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to equitable development, Kindiki urged patience as reforms take root, reiterating that the administration would continue prioritising delivery over rhetoric.
This was his second consultative meeting at Karen after a brief hiatus. Present were Nyandarua MPs Faith Gitau, Kwenya Thuku, Michael Muchira, George Gachagua, and Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah. Others included several MCAs and MPs from across the country, with apologies sent by Olkalau MP David Kiharau.
The meeting underscored Kenya Kwanza’s ongoing regional outreach strategy and sent a clear message to critics: the government’s development record, not political talk, will define its 2027 campaign.
