Kioni Reveals Why Matiang’i Did Not Address the Jubilee NDC

Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has clarified why former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i did not address the party’s National Delegates Conference (NDC) on Friday, September 26.

Speaking on Sunday, September 28, Kioni explained that the NDC was convened to specifically address issues within the party.

The Jubilee SG said Matiang’i was not denied an opportunity to speak, but noted that the conference was primarily meant for former President Uhuru Kenyatta to give the party direction ahead of the 2027 general election.

“This was an organ of the party we had called specifically to deal with the issues we had raised. It wasn’t a politicking platform.

“Matiang’i also attended the NDC as a member of the Jubilee Party, and he also knows when he wants to address. He wasn’t denied an opportunity, but ideally, the party leader wanted to give directions as we are preparing for 2027,” said Kioni.

Matiang’i was among the key figures who attended the Jubilee NDC held at the Ngong Racecourse in Nairobi.

During the event, the former Interior CS was spotted seated in the front row next to Uhuru.

Speaking in the NDC, Uhuru confirmed that Jubilee Party continues to be a member of the Azimio coalition, despite significant changes within the coalition’s membership over recent years.

He explained that the party had originally joined Azimio because of a shared vision for the country’s future.

“When we last convened a National Delegates Conference prior to the 2022 general elections, the party resolved to become a member of the Azimio La Umoja coalition because I, as party leader then and now, was convinced that the coalition and its members shared a common vision for our country,” he stated

Uhuru also said the Jubilee Party is actively preparing for the next general election, emphasizing the party’s commitment to fielding strong candidates across all elective positions.

“Make no mistake when I say that, like any other political party, we shall be prepared, we shall be preparing for the next general election and doing so in earnest, and it remains our firm intention to field the best possible candidates for all elective positions. We shall either do this on our own or we shall do this in concert with like-minded political movements,” he further explained.
