Kisii Public Service Board Impeached

The members of the Kisii County Public Service Board have been impeached by the Kisii County Assembly.

A total of 69 members voted against the board. The board was supported by only two MCAs. The exercise was attended by all 71 MCAs.

The five members of the Public Service Board and the secretary had appeared before the Assembly’s Committee on Labor and Manpower in response to a petition presented by Benson Atika, a resident of the Nyaribari Masaba Constituency.

The law allows for the impeachment of Board members with a 75 per cent vote of no confidence by MCAs.

The board was accused of flagrant violations of the Constitution, including poor human resource practices and illegal job promotions.

They are also accused of hiring too many people.
