Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o today paid a courtesy call to Hon. Ali Hassan Joho, Cabinet Secretary for Mining and Blue Economy.
According to Nyong’o, they discussed their collaboration with the National Government through the Aquaculture Business Development Programme (ABDP).
“We are set to construct three state-of-the-art fish landing sites at Ogal, Kusa, and Asat beaches, each with an investment of Ksh. 150 million. This project is designed to support local fisherfolk and improve the entire fish value chain,” he said.
Nyong’o said these new facilities will act as aggregation centers, featuring extensive cold storage to help preserve the catch while seeking markets.
They will also include modern bandas, a jetty, and warehouses.
Present at the meeting were my deputy, Dr. Ochieng Owili, Women Representative Hon. Ruth Odinga, and Members of Parliament Rosa Buyu (Kisumu West) and James Nyikal (Seme), along with other stakeholders.
