On Monday afternoon, a 54-year-old mother was hacked to death by her son in Atinga village, Kisumu County.
Following a personal dispute, the mother was cut with an axe by her 39-year-old son, according to area chief George Ochieng Ajuoga.
A niece of the suspect who heard the disturbance also ran for her life after the man threatened to assault her.
After the horrible incident, the culprit, Michael Odhiambo Olenyo, fled on foot and is being chased by police.
The incident comes in the wake of a sharp increase in domestic violence.
