KNPHI Board Advised to Adopt Proactive Measures to Stop Only Responding to Health Emergencies

Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni emphasised the need for action during the first meeting with the Kenya National Public Health Institute (KNPHI) Board.

She focused on the complex issues brought on by climate change and the changing global disease trends.

Muthoni stressed that the Board needed to adopt proactive approaches and stop responding only to health emergencies, instead of focusing on preventing and minimising possible risks.

The Principal Secretary applauded the Board’s steadfast commitment to stepping up efforts and expressed optimism and encouragement.

Kenya’s public health is being protected in the face of changing circumstances, as seen by their focused attention on research, surveillance, and community participation.
