The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has sealed airports and border points in the search for a wealthy Jubilee Party campaign funder.
Mary Wambui Mungai is wanted for unpaid taxes on big-ticket State tenders in agencies such as the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (Kemsa) and the military.
The taxman has issued an alert to close all border ports, including Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), in order to prevent Mary Wambui Mungai from fleeing the country after she failed to appear in court to answer allegations of failing to pay taxes between 2014 and last year.
The entrepreneur claimed she was in Zambia for hidden business negotiations when she failed to appear before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) as mandated in June.
After Ms Mungai failed to appear before the KRA for the second time on December 3, the taxman was concerned that she could flee.
