KTN Journalist Shadrack Mitty Dies In Hospital


The Kenyan media fraternity is mourning the death of Shadrack Mitty, a Standard Media Group journalist.

Mitty died a few minutes after midnight at Kenyatta University Referral Hospital, where he was being treated.

According to reports, he had been suffering from blood disease for an unknown amount of time prior to his untimely death.

Mitty, a seasoned educational reporter, covered numerous significant events, including the transition of the educational system from the 8-4-4 curriculum to the new CBC.

Following Mitty’s death, the media and education stakeholders expressed their condolences, joining his Standard Group colleagues.

Ken Mijungu, Deputy Editor of Standard Group Broadcast, remembered Mitty as someone who had “unquestionable dedication and unrivalled professionalism.”

“A friendly team member whose contacts in the education sector made all the difference in our work. He was a good man, a perfect gentleman,” wrote Mijungu.

Former journalist Philip Etale said: “Waking up to the sad news of the passing on of my friend and colleague in journalism, Shadrack Mitty,. This was one journalist who loved his job. He was dedicated and never shied from asking as many questions as possible to understand the story for informed dissemination to the masses. The media industry has lost a good man.”

Mitty previously worked for QTV for five years, from 2012 to 2016, before joining the Standard Group.
