Land Ministry Officials Arraigned Over Fraud

Three officers from the Ministry of Lands, have been arraigned in court and charged with forgery.

Edward Kiptoo, Stephen Maina and Samuel Patrick were charged with forgery of an allotment letter contrary to the Law.

The prosecution Counsel before Milimani Law Courts submitted that the three conspired to forge an allotment letter dated January 11, 2000 for unsurveyed land measuring 3 hectares.

It is believed that the three officers purported the forged letter to be genuine and issued by the Commissioner of lands.

In the second Count, Samuel Patrick is also charged with intent to defraud Gulflink Enterprises limited a piece of unsurveyed land measuring 3.196 Hectares.

Appearing before Magistrate Susan Shitubi, the three denied having been involved in the scheme and termed the charges shambolic attempt made to paint their names negatively.

However, the Court released them on a Bond of Ksh 2Million with an alternative Cash bail of Ksh 1Million.
