Lawyer Ahmednasir Questions Raila’s Call For Kenyans To ‘Walk To Work’

Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has questioned Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s call that Kenyans boycott tax payments and utilize other modes of transport to get to work.

Raila suggested that, due to the high cost of living, Kenyans walk to and from work in order to avoid President William Ruto’s gasoline tax.

Ahmednasir wondered what had happened to Raila to force Kenyans to walk instead of taking public transportation.

“Eh…what really happened to Hon Raila? That “walk instead of using buses and Matatus”. Junet Mohamed nini mbaya na Baba (Raila)? He asked.

Raila stated at the Kamukunji rally on Tuesday that the overall impact of this step is to minimize the usage of gasoline and diesel by public service vehicles.

“One way to accomplish this is to carpool. Let us make every effort to travel in a single car on a regular basis. Take each other on a ride. Reduce non-essential travel. “Whenever possible, walk instead of driving,” Raila stated.

“I appeal to all employers to allow their workers time to walk to and from work,” he continued.

The opposition leader also urged Matatu operators to transport extra passengers in order to reduce the number of cars on the road and hence fuel usage.

This is despite it being against traffic rules for public service vehicles to carry excess passengers.

“I appeal to the Matatu owners to support tax boycotts. While observing safety measures, they attend the current fares by doubling the carrying capacity as part of the civil disobedience,” Raila said.
