Man Charged For Allegedly Failing To Pay Sh493,190 Hotel Bill

A private company’s director was arraigned on Thursday for allegedly failing to pay a Sh493,190 hotel bill.

He allegedly ate and failed to pay the required accommodation fees.

Watson Macharia, the co-director of a private company, was arraigned before Kibera senior principal magistrate Esther Boke.

According to court documents, he allegedly committed the crime at the Ibis Styles Hotel in Westlands, Nairobi, between October 22, 2018, and December 20, 2018.

The accused is accused of using the company’s credit facilities without the approval of the other directors.

The court heard that all documents in the company required the signature of at least two directors.

According to the evidence presented in court, the accused then went on to obtain credit and goods from the aforementioned hotel.

The co-directors also discovered that the money allegedly obtained by the accused was used for his personal expenses, which the company was not supposed to cater for.

The accused is said to have asked for cash to pay one of the company’s customers, which was prepared by his co-directors but he used on his own.

He denied the charges and was released on Sh500,000 bond.
