Police Seize Illicit Brew In Nyahururu

Over 57 crates of suspected illicit brew were seized by police in Nyahururu while being transported from Nakuru to Nyahururu town.

The vehicle transporting the liquor was seized at the Nyahururu police station, according to Nyahururu Deputy County Commissioner Ndambuki Muthike, while one suspect was arrested and is now being processed to appear in court once investigations are completed.

He claimed the brew was packaged in adulterated bottles with fake Kebs and KRA stamps, and that the drink is not fit for human consumption.

He stated that KRA officials have been invited to assist in determining the legality of the brew.

According to the DCC, the drink is being sold to unsuspecting customers in the town and its surroundings, and residents are being warned to be wary of suspicious drinks.

Ndambuki stated that this was part of a government operation to eliminate illicit brews as well as the manufacture, sale, and consumption of second generation brews in the country.

He urged the public to join the government in the fight against illegal brews and other forms of crime.
