Man Charged With Assaulting A Woman After She Killed His Chicken

Kaiga denied the charges and was sentenced to a Sh 15,000 fine or three months in jail.

A Kibera court has imprisoned a man accused of assaulting a woman for allegedly killing his chicken.

Patrick Lwoyero Kaiga was found guilty by Kibera senior principal magistrate Esther Boke on Monday after the prosecution presented their case.

Kaiga denied the charges and was sentenced to a Sh 15,000 fine or three months in jail.

He initially stated that he couldn’t raise the funds.

“I only have 12,000 on my phone, so I ask the court to reduce the fines to that amount,” he told the judge.

However, his request for the court to reduce the amount was denied.

The accused is said to have assaulted Mary Zainabu Yabwetsa on April 29, 2018, in Kibera Sub-county, Nairobi county, according to the charge sheet.

Yabwesta was one of four witnesses called to testify by the prosecution.

Yabwetsa, 62, told the court that the incident occurred in her home.

She claimed the accused approached her while she was serving a customer and inquired as to why she had killed his chicken.

“When I asked who told him this rumor, he attacked me,” she testified in court.

She testified in court that the accused also insulted her.

She later reported the incident to the police, which resulted in the arrest of the accused.

Boke stated in her decision that there was sufficient evidence linking the suspect to the crime.
