Police in Siaya County are looking into the death of a 46-year-old man whose body was found hanging in his bedroom at Pap Yamo village, West Alego location in Alego/Usonga subcounty.
The body of the man identified as Pascal Okoth Akelo was found by his relatives.
According to Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, the incident was reported to Mwer Police Patrol Base by the Assistant Chief of Komenya sub-location, Elizabeth Awino.
He stated that officers from the patrol base arrived at the scene and discovered that the deceased had hanged himself using a leso inside his bedroom.
According to the County Police Chief, preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased attempted suicide by jumping from a three-story building in Nairobi last year.
Mr. Kimaiyo confirmed the afternoon incident, stating that the scene was processed and documented before the body was taken to the Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
He stated that the true motive for the man’s decision to end his life has yet to be determined since he did not leave a suicide note.
