Man Jailed For 3 Years For Attacking Another Man Who Allegedly Married His Lover

A 23-year-old man was sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to attacking another man accusing him of marrying his 17-year-old lover.

Ezekiel Aluvale allegedly sustained permanent injuries as a result of an assault by Emmanuel Sidani on May 17 in the village of Kambi Mawe, Turbo region, Uasin Gishu county.

On Wednesday, the court was told that Sidani broke into Aluvale’s residence and met him with his girlfriend who had gone missing for days.

Sidani is said to have been enraged by his discovery and struck Aluvale with a blunt object.

Further, Sidani is accused of damaging Aluvale’s television during the encounter, a charge he also admitted before Eldoret Court Senior Principal Magistrate Richard Odenyo.

In mitigation, Sidani told the court that he regretted committing the crime and that he had acted out of rage and jealousy after discovering that Aluvale had fled with a girl he loved.

Magistrate Odenyo stated that the penalty would serve as a lesson to other young people who engage in such activities.
