Man Stares At Jailterm Over Phone Theft

A 36-Year-old man has been detained by police officers after he allegedly sold a phone that he and an accomplice had stolen one hour earlier in Muranga town.

Athman Karim Kori, 36, and his accomplice are said to have robbed one Harrison Kuria using a toy pistol at Mumbi Estate.

They made off with his phone as well as Sh5,200 in cash.

One of the guys approached a shopkeeper in town an hour later to sell the phone.

The shopkeeper, who had already heard about Kuria’s dilemma, immediately recognized the phone when he saw it.

He tricked the seller to wait for him as he went to fetch money but in turn, he informed Kuria and also alerted police officers based at Muranga police station.

On arrival, the officers pounced on the suspect and upon searching him, recovered a toy pistol.

Efforts to trace his accomplice are still ongoing.

He will be arraigned in court on Monday to answer charges of robbery with violence.
