ManCity Named Highest Revenue-Generating Club

For the first time in a season afflicted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Manchester City has led the Deloitte Football Money League as the world’s highest revenue-generating club.

Previous presidents Barcelona fell to fourth place in the 25th edition of the league, the lowest rank for the Spanish club since 2013-14.

City, which is owned by Abu Dhabi and has a number of sponsors tied to the owners, climbed six positions.

The report’s findings will be encouraging for City as they prepare to fight with some of Europe’s best clubs for Erling Haaland’s signature this summer.

The rumored €75 million release clause on the Borussia Dortmund striker is slated to expire at the end of April, meaning clubs could be forced to pay a significantly larger transfer fee if a deal is not reached before then.
