Maranda High, 5 Others Report Fire Incidents

Maranda High School Fire

Highflying Maranda High School has joined a growing list of institutions that have been torched in the arson spree.

A dormitory with a 200-bed capacity was torched in the wee hours of the night.

Local residents and teachers joined by the Siaya County fire department, helped put out the fire.

Property worth millions were destroyed in the inferno.

Five more schools have reported fire incidents in the past 14 hours.

The schools include Mwala Girls High in Machakos County, Maranda High in Siaya County, Cheplaskei High in Uasin Gishu, Nambale Boys High School in Busia, and St. Mary’s Riabore Primary in Nyamira County.

Police authorities say they expect the incidents to continue growing due to incitement.

However, they have warned of dire consequences should any student be found culpable to the arson incidents.
