Heavy police presence was witnessed in Nairobi’s Mathare area 10 as Azimio supporters are expected to take to the streets for the second time.
A fresh round of protests broke out in the area on Thursday morning, with videos showing protesters engaging anti-riot police in running battles.
Videos showed tens of anti-riot police officers patrolling the area in full anti-riot gear.
The third round of anti-government protests, apparently called for by Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga in response to the government’s refusal to address the skyrocketing cost of living and access to IEBC servers, took place on Thursday.
The bi-weekly protests, on the other hand, are still illegal, with the Cabinet Secretary of the Interior Ministry warning against any plans to gather “with or without notice.”
