Dr Matiang’i fate now entirely lies with DPP Haji after his office confirms receiving a file from the DCI containing Matiang’i’s allegations.
The Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODDP) has confirmed receiving duplicate files of the alleged police raid in Dr Matiang’is Karen’s home.
According to a letter dated March 8, 2023 from the ODPP, the office has today 8th March received the file alleging that police visited and cordoned off the residence of former CS of Interior and co-ordination of National Government, Dr Fred Matiang’i.
” The ODPP has today the 8th of March 2023 received the duplicate file relating to the allegations that police officers visited and cordoned off the residence of Dr. Matiang’i with the intention of arresting him on the night of 8th February 2023 for undisclosed officers.” reads the letter in part.
According to the ODPP, the duplicate file will be reviewed and a decision on whether to charge Matiang’i, shall be made in due course based on the evidence, facts, the law and the 2019 guidelines on the decision to charge.
