A Maua court has sentenced Alex Mugambi to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of attempted murder. The ruling underscores the commitment of the Director of Public Prosecutions to uphold justice and deter violent crimes.

Mugambi was convicted of attempting to kill Joseph Mwamba on May 10, 2023, in Igembe South Sub-County, Meru County.

During the trial, Prosecutor Kelvin Gitonga presented six witnesses whose testimonies convinced the court that Mugambi unlawfully attacked Mwamba with a panga.

The attack caused severe injuries, including a completely severed shoulder and right wrist, and injuries to Mwamba’s neck. The evidence showed that Mugambi’s assault was brutal and deliberate.

In her judgment, Senior Resident Magistrate Hon. Ken Muchiri confirmed that the prosecution had proved its case beyond any reasonable doubt. As a result, Mugambi was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the attempted murder.
