Meet Namibia’s 22 Year-old Member of Parliament

As the world population continues to center on youth and women opportunities, many youths such as Patience Masua have taken up the challenge to lead the country at a tender age.

Following the departure of Defence Minister Vilho, President Hage Geingob elevated Patience Masua to Parliament in April 2021, making her Namibia’s youngest MP.

She formerly served as the Secretary-General of the Namibia National Students Organization (NANSO) and the Speaker of the UNAM Student Representative Council (SRC).

Hon. Masua is a graduate of Delta Secondary School in Windhoek, where she served as Deputy Head Girl on the Learners Representative Council.

She earned a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Namibia (UNAM).

She is now the Southern Africa Youth Forum’s Namibian Country Director (SAYOF).

During an interview on her vulnerability as a young and pretty leader, Hon. Masua said she was simply not taking ‘likability’ as a trait.

“I don’t fall prey to likability politics because I don’t sing for a living; I work for it. So trust me when I say I’ll call you out if you’re not doing your job. Capacity must be matched with power. It is unquestionably a ‘business odd’ situation.” she warned.
