Melinda Gates Steps Down from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Melinda French Gates has announced her resignation as co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

In a statement, Melinda shared this wasn’t an easy decision. Her last day will be June 7th.

Melinda co-founded the world’s largest private charity, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, in 2000 with her then-husband, Bill Gates.

The foundation tackles global issues like poverty, disease, and climate change.

Melinda and Bill announced their separation in 2021 after 27 years of marriage. Despite this, they initially pledged to continue their philanthropic work together.

It remains unclear what this means for the foundation’s leadership structure.

The Gates Foundation holds immense power in global health, with an endowment exceeding $75 billion.

Melinda’s dedication to the foundation’s mission is undeniable, with she and Bill contributing over $36 billion of their own wealth throughout the years.
