Migori county assembly speaker, his deputy and several assembly officials were picked up by detectives to answer to suspected graft allegations. – By Gerald Gekara.
County Speaker Boaz Okoth and his deputy Mathews Chacha have long been on the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission’s list, who were on a hunt to establish corruption in Migori.
Other officers currently at the EACC offices include the County assembly clerk Tom Opere, his deputy Emanuel Aballa Kingwara, and supply chain manager Steve Okello and a member of the county assembly public service Board, Brian Osodo (MCA, kachieng ward).
The incident comes after a heated debate on a decision to impeach Migori governor Okoth Obado, who was arrested alongside his family over graft charges.
Okoth reported statements regarding his safety, due to his stance against the impeachment of the embattled governor.
