Court Slaps Land Fraud Suspect With Harsh Bail Terms

A middle-aged man has been arraigned in Court facing charges of conspiracy to defraud contrary to the Law.

Samson Kimani Kamau was charged with conspiracy to defraud contrary to the Law. Particulars of the offense are on diverse dates between January 17 and March 29, 2022. 

In Nairobi City, jointly with others conspired to defraud Ahmednasir Abdulahi Advocates of Ksh 11 million by falsely pretending they were in a position to sell a parcel of land located in Eastleigh at a cost of Ksh 120 million.

The said Ahmednasir Abdulahi Advocates at the time of the fraud was acting on behalf of his client Mohamud Hashi Abdi

Further, Samson Kimani Kamau was charged with obtaining Ksh 11 million from Ahmednasir Abdulahi Advocates by falsely pretending they were in a position to sell a parcel of land located in Eastleigh at a cost of Ksh 120 million.

Appearing before Magistrate Bernard Ochoi, the accused denied particulars of the offenses.

The counsel for the Victim pleaded with the court to deny the accused person bond stating that he was a flight risk who could go outside the court’s jurisdiction once granted bail.

Counsel for the accused person objected to the application stating that the accused person was a man of simple means who could not in any way walk out of the Court’s jurisdiction once granted bail.

The court ruled that there were no sufficient grounds tabled before the court to warrant the denial of a bond to the accused person.

The accused was therefore released on a bond of Ksh 5 million with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 3 million
