Milimani Court Issues Arrest Warrant for Juja MP George Koimburi Over Conspiracy Charges

A Milimani Law Court has issued a warrant of arrest against Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi after he failed to appear for plea-taking in a case where he is charged with conspiracy to defeat justice.

The warrant also applies to two co-accused persons — identified in court as Peter (the 6th accused) and Njuguna alias Njugush (the 7th accused) — who similarly failed to show up for the proceedings.

Five other accused persons, including Juja Constituency Development Fund Chairperson Peter Kiratu Muhia and Kanyenya-ini Ward MCA Grace Nduta Wairimu, were present in court and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the accused persons are alleged to have conspired to stage-manage the abduction of MP Koimburi in a plot aimed at obstructing his arrest and prosecution in connection with a land fraud case.

The court maintained earlier cash bail terms of KSh300,000 for the accused who were present and further ordered each of them to submit three contact persons for vetting by the court.

Defense lawyers urged the court to preserve the existing bail conditions and requested the release of motor vehicles and mobile phones seized during the arrest of the suspects. However, State Prosecutor Owiti opposed the application, arguing that the items were crucial to the ongoing investigations.

While not objecting to bond for those who had appeared in court, the prosecution formally requested the court to issue arrest warrants against MP Koimburi, Peter, and Njuguna, citing their unexplained absence.

Koimburi is also facing a separate charge under Section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act, relating to publishing false information. The charge stems from a June 7, 2025, statement he made via a YouTube broadcast from Karen Hospital, where he claimed to have been abducted and tortured by unknown individuals — an assertion the prosecution says was knowingly false and intended to incite public panic.

Peter Kiratu Muhia is further accused of giving false information to a police officer. He allegedly reported that the MP had been abducted by masked individuals after attending a church service in Mugutha, claims now under scrutiny.

The case is set for mention on August 5, 2025, for further directions.
