Missing Hairdresser Found Dead, Body Dumped in Pit Latrine

The missing hairdresser, who went missing a fortnight ago, was found murdered and her body dumped in a pit latrine in the Mlolongo area, just a few kilometres from her workstation.

Jane Mwende Mwanzia’s decomposing body was discovered after the suspects led police to the scene.

The suspects arrested last week in connection with Mwende’s disappearance had previously led detectives to a Magongo forest in the Wote area of Makueni County.

In a dramatic turn of events, the suspects would later change the narrative that led the police to Kiserian before revealing the actual scene where Mwende’s body was discovered in Mlolongo.

Mwende’s family, friends, and colleagues have been searching for her frantically and relentlessly since she went missing a fortnight ago, visiting numerous police stations, hospitals, and even mortuaries without success.

Jane Mwende is said to have received a phone call early Friday morning, August 25th, from a person posing as a client requiring her hairdressing services at their home. She left never to return.

“Alipigiwa simu asubuhi kitu saa tatu. saa nne..wakati aliondoka alienda hajawai rudi…,” Winnie Munyau, a hairdresser at the salon told Citizen Digital.

“Alitoka hapa lakini hakusema anaenda wapi… alichukua tu simu na akaenda…,” added Jennifer Mwende who also works at the salon.

Concerns were raised when Jane failed to show up for work the following day. Her phone remained switched off.

Jane’s disappearance became apparent when she failed to pick up her child from her Yatta home in Machakos following the August holiday.

Officers at the Mlolongo Police Station are now looking into a possible link between Jane’s disappearance and a love triangle, as well as her involvement in the real estate business.

It is claimed that Jane and another woman in Mlolongo town were involved in a dispute with a man who has already been questioned by police. Interestingly, the other lady has not been seen in Mlolongo town since Jane’s disappearance.
