MOH, St.John To train 200,000 Boda Boda Riders

Susan Nakhumicha, the health cabinet secretary, welcomed the Council of St. John Priory of Kenya, led by their chairperson Paul Ndung’u and CEO Haron Gikeria, on Wednesday morning.

The CS stated that MOH would support St. John in replenishing emergency stocks across their various rescue centers as well as examining and accrediting St. John trainees pursuing EMT. MOH would also continue to facilitate training of volunteers from St. John on community health before coaxing them into CHVs.

The CEO pleaded with the ministry of health to get started on educating 200,000 boda bodadrivers to be emergency first responders and to make sure that every boda boda driver in the nation had access to NHIF medical coverage.

St. John Ambulance has been a crucial partner of the Ministry of Health, providing sick and injured people with emergency medical assistance while also encouraging philanthropic endeavors that have helped to lessen suffering.
