MOH to Partner With UNICEF, Stakeholders to Eradicate Malnutrition in the Country

To address the urgent problem of malnutrition in Kenya, Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni of the State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards called a conference with representatives from UNICEF, the British High Commission, and other interested parties.

The purpose of the gathering was to create a cooperative approach that would prioritise nutrition in the nation’s efforts to avoid disease.

The meeting’s main conversations focused on the problems caused by malnutrition in Kenya and the initiatives that are now being undertaken, such as the Child Nutrition Fund and the assistance of the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

Amidst Kenya’s bold endeavours to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) via Primary Health Care programmes, interested parties underscored the indispensable function of nutrition in promoting healthcare accessibility and parity.

A major component of the discussions centred on providing Community Health Promoters (CHPs) with comprehensive capacity-building programmes to empower them.

PS Muthoni stressed how critical it is to provide these front-line advocates with the resources they need to promote wholesome eating habits in their neighbourhoods.
