Roma starlet Felix Afena-Gyan has been demoted from the first squad after Jose Mourinho learned that the 19-year-old had gone clubbing on Saturday.Â
This season, the Ghana international made his senior debut for Mourinho, scoring two goals in his third Serie A match on November 21.
He has already played 12 games in Italy’s top division, but the daily Il Messaggero reports that he will not be playing for the first time for the next several weeks.
After learning that the striker had gone clubbing on Saturday, Mourinho decided to demote him to the Primavera squad.
Afena-Gyan was unable to play against Spezia on Sunday and returned to Trigoria, where he lives in the club’s boarding school. However he was spotted at a night club later that evening.
Mourinho was dissatisfied with the striker’s actions, and Afena-Gyan has been training with the Primavera squad since yesterday.
Roma had asked their players to avoid going out in crowded places, but Nicol Zaniolo and Stephan El Shaarawy ignored the request when the Italy internationals went clubbing less than two weeks ago.
Mourinho, on the other hand, rested Zaniolo for Sunday’s Serie A match against Spezia, with the 22-year-old coming on as a substitute in the second half.
