A man has been charged with counts of cybercrime after he allegedly altered MPESA transactions.
before the Senior Principal Magistrate Hon Bernard Ochoi SPM, Emmanuel Ian Osome was charged with fraudulent use of electronic data contrary to section 38(2) of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act 5 of 2018
The prosecution argues that Mr Emmanuel sent edited phone Mpesa transaction text messages to Christine Nyanchama purporting to be a monthly house rent payment through her Absa bank account.
The court further heard that Emmanuel occasioned Miss Christine to lose Ksh 1.2M.
He however denied the charges before Milimani SPM Bernard Ochoi and was released on Ksh 500,000 bond with Ksh 200,000 cash bail alternative.
