Passport Fraudsters Put State On High Alert

Two people were arrested on 1st December 2021 over allegations of misleading an immigration officer seeking information material to the exercise of his powers.

The two John Kimbo Wambile and Oliver Mwanko Wambile were charged with misleading an immigration officer one John Kipkemei Ngetich working at immigration headquarters in Nyayo House within Nairobi County.

The two are said to have committed the offence on the 14th day of October 2021 whereby according to the charge sheet they declared in their passport application forms that their mother’s names are Eunice Njoki Simiya, a fact they knew was false and misleading.

Further, John Kimbo Wambile was charged with assisting another person to obtain a forged student’s pass contrary to the law.

The two were before the Senior Principal Magistrate Hon Bernard Ochoi SPM at Milimani Law Courts where they took their plea and denied all the charges. They were each released on a Bond of Ksh 200,000 or a cash bail of Ksh 100,000.

Illegal issuance of immigration documents to immigrants without following required procedures not only undermines state security but also denies the country much-needed revenue.

Furthermore, it erodes the image of the country as a safe destination for tourism. It is therefore the mandate of the immigration department to maintain a hawk-eyed effort to save the country from falling vulnerable to terror activities.
