Mudavadi’s Communications Secretary Resigns

Kibisu Kabatesi, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi’s secretary for government strategic communications, has resigned.

Kabatesi stated personal reasons for his departure, praising Mudavadi for the opportunity to serve and cooperate with him.

Kabatesi’s resignation will become effective on November 1, 2023.

Furthermore, the secretary stated that he is acting with a clear conscience, requesting that the PCS grant him reimbursement for all outstanding dues and arrears.

His resignation comes months after he was appointed to the docket as a newly established position in March.

In his new role as president, he was responsible for supervising government strategic communication of policy, its articulation, and distribution, as well as managing and coordinating strategic communication across government ministries, state departments, and agencies.

Kabatesi also oversaw the establishment of strategic communication capacity-building procedures for MDAs, including training, monitoring, and evaluation systems for strategic communication practice inside the government.

Mudavadi’s long-serving staffer alternated as his director of communications, private secretary, and spokesman.

Kabatesi has served as Presidential Director of Communication in three campaigns: Raila Odinga’s in 2007, Musalia Mudavadi’s in 2013, and The NASA Coalition’s in 2017.

With over 40 years of experience, he is a well-known public intellectual and media practitioner.
