The National Police Service (NPS), working jointly with National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO), has intensified operations against narcotics and illicit brews, leading to multiple arrests across Murang’a, Nakuru, Kiambu and Kirinyaga counties.
According to police reports, the intelligence-led operations targeted known hotspots linked to the distribution and sale of illegal substances.
In Kandara, Murang’a County, officers from Muruka Police Station arrested one suspect found in possession of 62 rolls of bhang concealed in his clothing.
In Nakuru County, a separate operation in Karagita, Naivasha, led to the arrest of two suspects. Police recovered 86 rolls of bhang, approximately 500 grams of cannabis sativa, and related paraphernalia.
In Kiambu County, officers on patrol in Gatundu South arrested a suspect found with 12 rolls of bhang hidden inside a cigarette packet. In a separate incident at Kinoo, another suspect was apprehended while allegedly selling the substance and was found in possession of 26 rolls.
Further operations in Murang’a County saw two additional suspects arrested in Gatanga, where officers recovered a total of 39 rolls of bhang.
In Kirinyaga County, police arrested two suspects in the Ngurubani area after recovering 15 rolls of bhang during the operation.
All suspects are currently in custody and are expected to be arraigned in court upon completion of processing. Police confirmed that the recovered narcotics have been secured as exhibits.
The National Police Service stated that the operations form part of sustained efforts to combat the spread of illicit brews and narcotic drugs, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding communities and maintaining public safety.
