The Partnership for Skills in Applied Sciences, Engineering, and Technology (PASET) will have its 6th Forum from April 23–25, 2024, at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya.
At least twelve African ministers of education will attend the conference, which will focus on discussing the future of entrepreneurship, education, and skills with an emphasis on academics, industry, and governments throughout Africa.
The occasion will also highlight how African postsecondary education is influencing the continent’s green economy and the nature of work in the future.
The development of pertinent skills and the advancement of scientific research and technology for industry and society are critical to Africa’s socio-economic change, according to Education Cabinet Secretary Dr. Ezekiel Machogu.
“Africa’s socio-economic transformation relies on its ability to develop relevant skills and promote scientific research and technology for industry and society,” said the Education CS.
He added, “It is evident that our collective efforts are not only driving the advancement of science, technology, and innovation in Africa but are also laying the foundation for socio-economic transformation across our nations. I am in no doubt that the objectives we set to achieve in the 6th PASET Forum will be achieved.”
In particular, the growth and use of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and data analytics within the entrepreneurial ecosystem will be covered in the conference along with the nature and kind of knowledge and skills needed for Africa’s industrialization.
To plan the event, the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) and the PASET Secretariat are working with Kenya’s Ministry of Education.
PASET is a novel effort headed by Africa that focuses on developing skills for critical economic sectors from upper-secondary/TVET to postgraduate education and scientific research, all of which assist Africa’s socio-economic transformation.
