New DCI Sherrif Promises Radical Sleuth Reforms

The DCI chief, who was sworn in this morning, got right to work, meeting with directors of various departments and section heads at DCI headquarters.

The new DCI Director has promised far-reaching reforms for effective service delivery.

Mr Amin Mohammed Ibrahim, the new DCI Director, has urged detectives to be forthright in their investigations and to serve Kenyans without prejudice and in strict adherence to the law.

The DCI chief, who was sworn in this morning, got right to work, meeting with directors of various departments and section heads at DCI headquarters.

Mr Amin, who expressed his delight at being back where he belonged, noted that while the majority of Kenyans were pleased with the work done by detectives thus far, there were a few rotten eggs in the agency that needed to be dealt with within the established disciplinary mechanisms.

The DCI Chief, who pledged to begin his tenure with a clean slate, urged detectives to carry out their duties with integrity while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

“The Service Standing Orders (SSO) on the conduct of police officers are very clear, and you are urged to strictly operate within the confines of the SSO while observing the chain of command,” the director stated.

While urging the officers to work together as a family to provide a safe and secure environment for Kenyans, Mr Amin committed to ensuring that investigations were audited daily and in greater detail, so that files forwarded for prosecution met the required threshold to secure convictions.

Concerning pending human resource issues and welfare, such as promotions and deployments, the Director, whose in-tray is already full, stated that he would be taking action gradually to ensure that the needs and requirements of every officer were addressed fairly.
