A new urban planning technical committee has been established by Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) to approve building plans – By Gerald Gekara.
While presiding over the launch of the team, NMS director-general Mohammed Badi said the new multi-sectoral urban planning committee is responsible for handling all planning approvals, leaving the director-general’s office to deal with the planning tasks.
“Prospective developers or investors and the general public are informed that Nairobi Metropolitan Services will not be liable for any of planning permits dated March 18, 2020, to date, which have not been processed within the above framework,” he said.
Major General Badi disbanded both City Hall’s pre-technical committee and the urban planning technical committee in May inorder to have both committees work under one roof.
