No Boda Bodas Past 8: Nairobi MCA Orders

Rex Omolleh, MCA for Nairobi West, has prohibited boda bodas from operating after 8 p.m.

He claims that the move is intended to reduce cases of insecurity.

Operators who do not comply risk being arrested and having their bikes impounded, according to Omolleh.

“For the last nine months, we have witnessed escalating insecurity around the ward especially Madaraka and Strathmore area,” he said in a letter.

The letter, dated November 11, was addressed to the OCPD Langata, OCS Nyayo Stadium, and the county assembly speaker.

It decried an increase in phone robberies and, more recently, housebreak-ins.

To combat the incidents, Omolleh promised to install more security lights and repair the existing ones.

A barrier will also be erected at the entrance to Madaraka as well as at the end near the AP camp and Mosque entrance.

“My office is working tirelessly to bring back our safe neighbourhood. In this regard, we have partnered with the Kenya Police,”Omolleh added.
