The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has stated that the voter registration deadline of November 2nd would not be extended.
IEBC Commissioner Francis Wanderi, speaking in Kericho while monitoring the registration exercise, said there will be no extension since there are no finances.
"Our budget is stretched and therefore we will not extend the deadline. Come out and register before the deadline."
Wanderi urged Kenyans who are eligible but have not registered to do so in the coming days.
IEBC has dispatched registration kits to universities and institutions where many students have yet to register.
On Tuesday, November 2nd, 2021, the exercise will come to a close, with IEBC having registered 17 percent of the 4.5 million new voters planned.
