Omanyala Breaks Own National 60m Record In Mondeville

Ferdinand Omanyala, the African 100m record holder, produced a scintillating performance at an indoor meeting held in Mondeville, France.

The 27-year-old lowered the 60m national record from 6:57 seconds to 6.55 seconds. The previous record was also set in the European nation in 2022.

Ivorian international Arthur Cisse and British runner Charles Dobson finished second and third respectively. Cisse crossed the finishing line at 6:59s while Dobson timed 6.61s.

Reacting after achieving the remarkable milestone, Omanyala simply described the performance as a great one.

“I am delighted of course. It was a fantastic race and this is exactly what I had wanted, to run below 6.60secs. It is a really great improvement and I am looking forward to do more,” Omanyala said.

The African champion over 100m is now set to compete at the Meeting de Paris scheduled for Saturday 11 February at AccorHotels Arena de Bercy in Paris, France.
