Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have been named Laureus World Team of the Year at the 26th Laureus World Sports Awards.
The French giants won six titles in 2025 – including a first Champions League – to confirm their status as one of the great powerhouses of European football.
They took their place on stage as part of the greatest show in sports as sporting heroes past and present received the honour most coveted by elite athletes.
After knockout victories over Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal in the Champions League, Luis Enrique’s PSG team put five goals past Internazionale in a final that instantly became one of the famous competition’s most memorable performances.
That triumph capped a campaign in which PSG swept all before them on the domestic front, winning Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Champions.
Their success continued into the new season, defeating Tottenham Hotspur to win the UEFA Super Cup before getting the better of Flamengo to claim the FIFA Intercontinental Cup in December.
PSG become the fifth club team to win the Laureus World Team of the Year Award, following Manchester United (2000), Barcelona (2012), Bayern Munich (2014 and 2021), and Real Madrid (2025).
Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President of Laureus World Team of the Year Paris St-Germain said: “On behalf of everyone at Paris Saint-Germain, we sincerely thank the Laureus Academy for this most prestigious honour. This recognition once again reflects the strength of our collective – at Paris Saint-Germain, our super-star is the team, both on and off the pitch. We are also so proud to represent Paris, French football and France on the global stage – using the power of sport to bring people together and make a positive difference. These values are at the heart of the Laureus Awards, and why it is such an honour for Paris Saint-Germain to be named Laureus World Team of the Year.”
