The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is looking into televangelist Ezekiel Odero of New Life Prayer Centre and Church for suspected indoctrination of members.
This follows the deaths and recovery of bodies in Shakahola, Kilifi County, attributed to the Good News International Church cult led by pastor Paul Mackenzie.
On Tuesday, April 25th, DCI detectives probing the strange fatalities related with Mackenzie’s Shakahola cult questioned Pastor Ezekiel about his beliefs and church activities.
The Kilifi DCIO-led operation resulted in Pastor Odero recording a statement regarding his purported links to Pastor Mackenzie.
The DCI team also visited the Milele Funeral Home in Mavueni, Kilifi County, a mortuary near Pastor Ezekiel’s congregation, and questioned morgue officials about probable cultic activity.
While observing the exhumation operation at Shakahola on Tuesday, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki stated that the National Police Service (NPS) is looking into flamboyant preachers whose teachings appear to be against the law.
