Detectives have taken into custody a dangerous and armed thug who is suspected of killing a Greek national in cold blood on October 15 of this year.

The 33-year-old criminal Peter Waithaka was apprehended last night at Makongeni in Nairobi’s east lands suburbs.

Waithaka is thought to be the leader of a gang responsible for the daylight armed robberies that have been reported in Kilimani and its surroundings.

He was apprehended after a 48-hour well-planned operation by Kilimani-based detectives, who utilized bait to catch a serial killer who had previously served six years in prison for a comparable offense.

Important evidence relating to the robbery episodes was found and documented at the home of the criminal who was just released from prison that he led detectives to in Wangige, Kiambu county.

“In the October incident, the jailbird together with two accomplices on a numberless motorbike accosted Alex Marcopaulo, at the Menellik /Ngong road junction and violently took away a rucksack that he was carrying. One of them then whipped out a pistol and shot Marcopaulo onceon the right side of the chest, before taking off on a motorbike,” said DCI.

“Efforts by doctors at the Nairobi Women’s hospital to save the victim’s life were fruitless as he later succumbed to the gunshot injury,” DCI added.

In a separate incident on September 29, the armed thugs had confronted 4 Dutch tourists outside Silver Harbour apartment along Kindaruma road and robbed them ferociously of their cell phones, cash, and jewelry before fleeing on a motorbike with covertly hidden license plate numbers toward Ngong road.

The criminals fired two bullets into the air as they ran away to frighten off onlookers who had come to the aid of the trapped tourists’ distress call.

The goons got stuck in the 8am incident as the Dutch tourists waited to board a tour van to Nairobi National Park. Detectives have been working nonstop ever since to identify the criminal gang and bring them all to justice.

“An operation to arrest the remaining suspects is currently ongoing, as the detectives follow crucial leads on their whereabouts. We thank the DCI Kilimani command and all the other officers involved for the well executed operation leading to the arrest of the dangerous jailbird,” said DCI.
