Police officers in Chesumei Sub-County have arrested a man found in possession of a large consignment of cannabis following a public tip-off.
According to the National Police Service, officers from Kaptel Police Station on August 20 intercepted the suspect after he alighted from a vehicle suspected to be ferrying bhang from Kapsisywo trading centre towards Kaptel.
A search of his bag revealed 22 stones of Cannabis Sativa, each containing 30 smaller packets wrapped in polythene bags. The suspect was immediately taken into custody and escorted to Kaptel Police Station, where the exhibits were secured. He is set to be arraigned in court.

Police commended members of the public for their cooperation, noting that timely sharing of intelligence played a key role in the successful operation. The service reiterated its commitment to combating the trade and abuse of narcotics, which it says continue to pose a threat to community safety.
