Police Break Silence On Kondele Violence

The National Police Service has weighed in on the Kondele incident that caused DP William Ruto’s rally to be disrupted.

Police condemned violence witnessed in Kondele during DP Ruto’s visit to the area.

According to a statement seen by Uzalendo News, Police Officers guarding the DP had to fire teargas to dispense unruly mob that caused violence.

The DP was evacuated peacefully from the scene.

Police spokesman Bruno Shioso added that intelligence on the planned violence was shared with thd DP and his security team.

Shioso added that their warnings on a hostile Kondele audience was disregarded.

According to Shioso, investigators discovered that local political groups were at odds over monies that were distributed to them.

The scenario was relayed to Ruto’s security team, who were ordered to cancel the Kondele visit, but they disobeyed the order.

DP Ruto condemned the violence.

"Our plans and programmes will ensure that the youth are liberated from regressive stone-throwing culture by engaging them in gainful activities that will better their lives through the Bottom-Up Economic Model."

Musalia Mudavadi weighed in on the attack, calling for tolerance among leaders.

"It's saddening to see the violent events that took place in Kisumu today. We need to learn to be tolerant of each other in all walks of life. Violence breeds more violence which we don't want. All leaders, the IEBC, security agencies & Kenyans at large should condemn such acts."
