Police Face Charges Over Murder In Ruai

Following the fatal shooting of a boda boda rider in Nairobi’s Ruai neighbourhood, three police officers have been arrested.

After the body of Dennis Wanyoike, 29, was discovered with bullet wounds, officials from the Ruai police station were detained.

They said they were on duty early in the morning when they learned about a stolen motorcycle in the vicinity.

Two motorcycles appeared, rushing away, leading the officers to fire at the riders.

Some residents protested along Kangundo Road after the tragic shooting, demanding that the officers involved be prosecuted.

A team of senior cops who arrived on the scene ordered the three coworkers to be disarmed and detained while the investigation was ongoing.

The victim’s body was sent to the mortuary.

Nairobi police chief Augustine Nthumbi said the incident is still under investigation. The three are expected to appear in court on Monday.
