Cop, Two Wives Plead Guilty To Stealing AK 47 Gun

Police constable Peter Mutembei and his wives, Joan Kanana and Alice Wanjiru, were accused of committing the crime on the night of June 4, 2022.

A police officer and two of his wives were found guilty of stealing an AK-47 gun from the home of another police officer in Maralal, Samburu County.

Police constable Peter Mutembei and his wives, Joan Kanana and Alice Wanjiru, were accused of committing the crime on the night of June 4, 2022.

The trio allegedly gained entrance to the quarters of one police constable, Lawrence Lekenit, at Maralal Police Line before taking the rifle and 30 rounds of ammunition.

They were quickly apprehended after Maralal sleuths located them in possession of the stolen rifle.

The three suspects were convicted of stealing a pistol and handling stolen goods on Thursday, January 26, 2023.

The prosecution wanted to charge the trio with another offense of burglary, but Wanyanga dismissed the application since there was no evidence that the three broke into Lekenit’s residence.

They are scheduled to be sentenced on February 16, 2023.
