Police in Kisumu County have launched a manhunt for a KCSE candidate and a group of men who allegedly gang-raped a 13-year-old girl.

According to the victim’s mother, the suspects laid a trap for the primary school girl who had been sent to buy candle at a nearby shop, when they pounced on her, forcefully putting her on a bodaboda motorbike and took her to a nearby house.

According to Citizen media, it is alleged that they repeatedly defiled her before escaping using the same motorbike.

The girl was later chased away from the house by the owner who police say has been positively identified.

Residents in the Kisumu East County have decried the increase in cases of defilement linked to bodaboda operators, who residents say, prey on young school children.

The incident was reported in Kondele Police Station, with the police launching investigations into the gang and assuring the girl’s mother that the culprits will be arrested and dealt with according to the law.
