Police pardon Kitui Priest after miraculous Corona cure

A Kitui Priest who recovered from the dreaded Covid 19 virus is off the police hook…at least for now. Father Nicholas Maanzo was among the 10 patients cured of the disease and released by Heath CS Mutahi Kagwe on Good Friday.

Upon his release, Maanzo was given a release certificate and told to report to the Police County Commander in Kitui. He will remain on mandatory house quarantine for a further 7 days but is supposed to report to Kitui Police station every 3 days.

Father Maanzo, 61 years, is a Diocesan Priest from Kitui County on secondment to Ireland, United Kingdom. A vehicle belonging to a relative dropped him to his Kihara Village home, Kitui Central after a stop over at the Kitui Police Station.

Father Maanzo is still under investigation for breaking a Corona Virus curfew.
Father Maanzo arrived from Ireland via the Netherlands and retreated to his Kitui Home from where he developed Corona like symptoms.

It is not clear whether divine intervention softened the hearts of the police…or there was intervention by the top tier of the Catholic Church in Kenya.

On Tuesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta warned those spreading the disease should be jailed without the option of a fine. The priest may still be charged with the offense.
